The one-man US Treasury

When the E.U. President said the U.S. stimulus the "way to hell" and the People Bank of China Governor Zhou Xiaochuan called for the replacement of the U.S. dollar as a global reserve currency, I am shocked to learn that the poor US Treasury is understaffed. According to the Bloomberg report, Timothy Geithner has been the only confirmed senior official at the Treasury since he took office in January. That's why Geithner said he hadn't read Zhou's comments. It is incredibly dangerous not to have someone briefed Geithner everyday on what China, U.S.'s largest creditor, is saying. With such a understaffed U.S. Treasury, I don't expect anything material will surface in the coming G20 meeting.
